How Does Change Happen?
This is perhaps one of those eternal questions
that carries both simplicity
and depths of complexity
juxtaposed in a tension
so bright and dark that
emotions explode and identities blurred.
Is your belief defined by your role
or is your role defined by your belief?
How does change happen?
POLICY says the policy maker
MARKETS says the business manager
MASS MOBILIZATION says the organizer
DIALOGUE says the convenor
SYSTEMS CHANGE says the academic
IMAGINATION says the artist
INVENTION says the scientist
INNOVATION says the technologist
INVESTMENT says the banker
DESIGN says the architect
ENLIGHTENMENT says the spiritual guide
RULE OF LAW says the lawyer
CONVICTION says the leader
EDUCATION says the teacher
DATA says the analyst
UNIVERSAL ACCESS says the philanthropist
HEALTHY CHOICES says the coach
AWARENESS says the communicator
PERSPECTIVE says the author
CRISIS says the journalist
ACTION says the entrepreneur
REVOLUTION says the activist
HOPE says the dreamer
NETWORKS says the connector
INSPIRATION says the storyteller
LOVE says the mother
ASPIRATION says the father
LAUGHTER says the child
POSSIBILITY says the youth
REFLECTION says the elder
And so we ask ourselves
Where we stand, where we shine and where we fly.
We ask whether or not
we are defined
by the roles we take
or the collective outcomes that emerge
when our efforts and beliefs collide.
Is it magic or tragic that we disagree?

The magic of diversity
It’s magic, magic and magic!
This world is made of diversity and diversity is fully part of this world. How would the world be if everyone was the same, looked as, thought the same, having the same role, promoting the same message? Probably, boring….boring and boring….
Each day is a new beginning, and each new beginning is a door open for changing. Changing, transforming our life, community, society and even our own beliefs …. To be able to change is an opportunity for all of us. A gift also…
Change happens by “the collective outcomes that emerge when our efforts and beliefs collide.” But, before all it happens by who you deeply are, what you want to be, and what you are able to do for it.
Each of us contributes to the big movement of change. Individuals with their diversity and power of gathering can create and transform the world through inspiration, imagination, reflection, aspiration, education, action, dialogue, convictions, revolution, hope, possibilities, network, enlightenment, … and so many, but above all LOVE !
Congratulations Jen, your article is so inspiring ;-)

CHANGE - ONE BY ONE
Thank you for the great posting Jennifer. I know without a doubt and from personal experience that social change and transformation happens one by one through personal transformation and change. The most powerful change takes place when we stop trying/waiting for another to change, and when we take responsibility for change. When we ARE the change we seek to see in the world. This is powerful and manageable.
Keep up the good work.
“Remember that with each change of mind comes a change of direction of the whole universe... powerful you are!!”
Season Greetings. Anna-Mari

How Does Change Happen?
The best part is that you make it so easy to see that people seeking change can be a combination of these types. The possibilities of interconnectedness: An academic can be a dreamer seeking change through both ends, as can a youth, who believes in possibilities and organizes for social change. Yes, we're all interconnected and in it together. Beautiful.

How change happens.
True change starts from an HUNGER to see a situation get better. It is first embedded in the minds that are obsessed by the need for change. Then individually or collectively they start up actions to inspire and effect change. This is how change occurs.
