Understanding Life in Afghanistan

Translations available in: English (original) | French | Spanish | Italian | German | Portuguese | Swedish | Russian | Dutch | Arabic

A few weeks ago, I met a Canadian who mentioned that she spent last year in Afghanistan.

I expressed my curiosity in wanting to know a bit more about 'Life in Afghanistan' and this Tuesday she agreed to meet with me to share some of her experiences. Karis will be joining me in order to help 'share' the story!

Here are some of the questions that I want to ask...Do you have any more to add??

1. Why did you go to Afghanistan?
(business / education / personal)

2. Were you nervous about going?
(for your safety / health etc.)

3. What was it like when you got there?
(describe your most memorable first experience)

4. How did people treat you?

5. How are women treated in Afghanistan?

6. What major misconceptions do you think the media portrays about Afghanistan?

7. What do you want the world to know about the people that you met there?

8. Describe your three most memorable experiences.

9. What did you learn while you were there?

10. What was unexpected about your experience?

11. What are your views on September 11th and how does it relate to your experience in Afghanistan?
